Almost exactly one year ago, my dad was diagnosed with cancer an unknown form of cancer. There were 3-4 "golf ball sized" tumors on, in and around his liver. I wasn't told this at the time, however, the first doctor that my parents saw suggested a pill, and gave him a year. Thank goodness he got more than just one diagnosis.

My dad then saw one of the leading doctors at the Huntsman Center, and he suggested he did a series of Chemo treatments. This has been the case for the past year. Chemo. He had his ups & downs, but had always seemed to be taking well to the treatment... Blood work & scans improving every time.

Jump to almost exactly year later ( October 29th, 2009) my dad went in to undergo surgery to remove the final tumor, that never had been affected by the chemo treatments. The surgery went well, however the doctors found some more that were deeper and a week later my dad went in for more surgery.

Tonight I found out it was successful. The doctors can not see anymore cancerous cells or tumors. He will stay in the hospital a few more days, then be released from the hospital to recover. After that I'm sure there will be many scans.

I'm not one for writing (or reading) lengthy post, so hang in there... I'm almost done.

I have learned many things throughout this. Here are the 3 most important:

1- My dad is amazingly strong. I know for a fact that his attitude towards this helped not only himself get through this, but also me. He fought this thing the whole time, and I know it was hard for him, but every time I heard him talk about it, it was positive. He is such a fighter.

2- I have learned a lot about myself and the people I want to surround myself with. I see people I live with in a whole new light. I know what truly matters, and it isn't what I thought mattered a year ago. (Vague...but it has to be)

3- The Family and Friends that I have are absolutely amazing. I have so much love for those who have been there to support My Family & me throughout all of this. Even just to let me talk to them about how my dad was doing meant more to me than anyone will know.

phoebe in wonderland.

I've always been a sucker for Alice in Wonderland... I love the book, movies & other things related to this story. Well, I just finished watching a movie called "Phoebe in Wonderland", and I loved it. The girl who portrays Phoebe is an amazing little actress. She is adorable, first off, but she is very convincing with the tough role she has to play. The story is enchanting & sort of tragic.

PLUS, it has Bill Pullman & how can you go wrong with him... you can't. Not in "While You Were Sleeping"...."Newsies"...."Casper".... I could go on and on....

Anyway, if you have Netflix, you can stream it, if not rent it. It's just great!

This is where my life begins & ends lately. But check out the homes I work on! And when I say work on... I mean doing this all day...

a fast catch up.

1. Jet Blue in JFK has an AWESOME Terminal! Whoever comes out to visit me (better be soon) will have to fly jet blue to see this!

2. Cab ride from JFK to Manhattan at 6:00 AM was amazing!

3. Discovered a new part of Central Park on the way to the Guggenheim last week & it was beautiful!

4. First time in the Guggenheim & saw the Frank Lloyd Wright Exhibit. Awesome place!

5. Ate & caught up with Friends Friday Night at the Rodeo Bar & Grill! So much fun! But I was too tiered to play after! I'm turning into a grandma!

5. Had "Extra" time Monday morning to enjoy 42nd & Broadway, only to discover that I was supposed to be at the 42nd & Broadway in QUEENS.... so turned out being 20 min late for the 1st day of work.... No biggie...

6. Had an awesome Hotel room at the Surf Lodge in Montak Monday night.

6. Had a MORE awesome view in the morning from my room Tuesday...

7. Worked on an INSANE install in Bridgehampton from Monday - Thursday, ate fabulous food, reunited with co-workers, moved furniture, ran a 5k up 4 flights of stairs 2x's a day, slept like a baby, saw the most amazing homes & got a gliplse of what I have gotten myself into! I'm a little nuts!

the time has come

GRADUATION: it's finally come and gone! I've had an amazing experience here at Utah State and in the Interior Design program. It's been the hardest thing I have ever done, but the experience I have gained will always stick with me. "Studio" has pushed me further than I have ever been pushed and I have and one too many breaking points but it was worth it. On to a career!
